Regulations on the Items Taken into and out of Vietnam |  |
According to customs regulations, passengers can carry into or out of the country no more than VND 15 million or no more than USD 5,000 or equivalent in foreign currency. Anything in excess of required amount must be declared and supported by proof of a legitimate source.
Visitors are not allowed to carry flammables, explosives, corrosive substances, toxic substances, radioactive substances, smelly items, pornographic books and magazines, DVD, animals and plants which have not been subjected to quarantine inspection and weapons. Upon entry or exit, do not carry anything for strangers.

Visa | |
Chinese citizens holding valid diplomatic passport and passport for public affairs as well as the accompanying persons who use the same passport don't need to apply for a visa upon for entry, exit or transit, and generally they can stay for 30 days in the country. For an extended stay, the Vietnamese organization which hosts the visitors should submit an application to the immigration authorities of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
Chinese citizens holding valid ordinary passport shall apply for visa in advance for entry, exit or transit. The embassy and consulates of Vietnam in China issue three types of visa: D (short-term), C1 (tourism ) and B3 (business).

Customs | |
The northern part of Vietnam (Hanoi) has four distinct seasons. In winter, temperatures could drop to as low as 10 degrees Celsius while in summer temperatures could jump to over 35 degrees Celsius. The southern part of Vietnam (Saigon) has a tropical climate year-round, with dry and rainy seasons. In formal occasions, men wear suits, while ladies mostly wear Vietnamese ethnic costumes or dresses.
Vietnam has similar dietary habits as China, but the Vietnamese cook their own distinctive dishes. In big and medium-sized cities Chinese foods, Japanese foods, Korean foods and a variety of Western foods are available, while in small towns, Vietnamese cuisine is more popular.
