Regulations on the Items Taken into and out of Mongolia |  |
Each visitor must fill in an entry declaration form upon entry and keep it until exit.
The following items taken by each visitor are tax-free: 1 carton of cigarettes (200 cigarettes and 250 grams of tobacco); one liter of liquor; two liters of wine; three liters of beer. Visitors who take MNT 5 million -20 million in cash or the equivalent in other currencies must make customs declaration. Visitors who take more than MNT 20 million in cash or the equivalent in other currencies must provide the proof the source of the funds issued by Mongolia's central bank.
Prohibited items include, among others, ore, maps, laptops and storage devices which contain Mongolia's geological data. Antiques and fossils must be supported by relevant export permits. Some shops can issue special export certificates for the artifacts they sell.

Visa | |
1. Mongolia does not grant landing visa for Chinese citizens.
2. According to the mutual visa abolition agreement between China and Mongolia, holders of China's diplomatic passport and passport for public affairs who stay for less than 30 days in Mongolia don't need to apply for a Mongolian visa.
3. Holders of China's ordinary passport for public affairs who stay for over 30 days in Mongolia must apply for a Mongolian visa.
4. Holders of China's ordinary passport must apply for a Mongolia visa in advance.
5. An applicant who intends to work in Mongolia must apply for a work visa. After he/she arrives in Mongolia, the employer must pay the "Foreign Workers' Job Fee" to the Mongolian labor authorities and applies to the immigration authorities for a residence permit.

Customs | |
Mongolia's main religion is Tibetan Buddhism. There are also some believers in Christianity and Catholics.
Mongols consider it a taboo to throw dirt into fire, cross over fire or place sharp objects like machete and knife beside fire. Mongolians worship water. They think it inappropriate to have a bath in, wash dirty things in or dump garbage into rivers.
