Regulations on the Items Taken into and out of India 

According to the regulations of the Indian Customs, passengers who carry cash in excess of USD 5,000 or the equivalent in foreign currency must declare. Chinese travelers can carry gifts not exceeding 4,000 rupees in value plus 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars, or tobacco of 250 grams and spirits of 1 liter.

In India, an import licensing system is in place for imports of live animals, beef and cow organs, pork, live fish, birds’ eggs, textile products, jewelry, plants and seeds, some pesticides, drugs and chemicals, electronic products and genetically modified products. Only state-owned companies are permitted to engage in businesses involving crude oil, ore products and foods. For example, petroleum products are imported by state-owned oil companies; nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium fertilizers and compound fertilizers are imported by mineral and metal trading companies; vitamin A drugs are imported by state-owned trading companies; oils and feeds are imported by state-owned trading companies and Hindustan Vegetable Oils; cereal products are imported by Food Corporation of India. It’s forbidden to import such commodities as wild animals and their products, ivory, animal oil products and hazardous wastes.

To stabilize prices, curb inflation and protect the domestic market supply, the Indian government banned the export of sugar, lentils and wheat in June 2006, wheat and its flour in October 2007, edible oil in March 2008, non-BASMATI rice (and raised the lowest export price of BASMATI rice) in April 2008, cotton products and cotton wastes in April 2010, onions in December 2010, and milk powder and other milk products in February 2011.


Visa 

No visa abolition agreement has been concluded between China and India. Chinese citizens are not allowed to apply for visa upon entry.

Transit visa

Passengers who transit India to a third country, hold an onward air ticket, don't leave the airport and stay for less than 24 hours don??t need to apply for a visa. Otherwise, they must apply for a transit visa, which is usually valid for 3 months and allows its holders to stay for up to 7 days.


Customs 

India is a country of many religions. Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism originated in India. In addition, there are many believers in the leading religions of the world such as Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

When the Indians answer questions, shaking head denotes “affirmative”.

Before entering a temple, you must first take off your shoes. Indians believe that wearing shoes into temples is an impolite and offensive act. When you watch religious rituals, do not make improper comments.

Do not touch a child’s head. Indians believe head is sacred.

In Hinduism, cow is considered a sacred animal.

In everyday life, the Indians consider it a taboo to use left hand offer tea or food.
