The customs of the
Entering
the
Each visitor can take the following items for personal
use into the United Kingdom: 200 cigarettes (or 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars or
250 grams of tobacco); 1 liter of spirits whose alcoholic content is more than
22% (or two liters of spirits whose alcoholic content is less than 22%); other items
whose total value does not exceed GBP 390 (including perfumes and souvenirs). Visitors
under 17 years of age are not allowed to carry tobacco products and alcoholic drinks

The following items must be declared to the customs: cash valued at more than EUR 10,000; items for personal use which exceed the tax-exempt limit in both quantities and value; items for commercial purposes; contrabands or other items restricted from entry.
Contrabands and restricted items include animals, plants, vegetables, meats, controlled medicines, pornographic materials, counterfeits and pirated products, simulation firearms, drugs, ammunition, explosives and so on.
Entering
the
Chinese citizens visiting the United Kingdom from EU countries (or countries where the EU regulations on entry and exit are applicable like Andorra, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino and Switzerland) can take into the United Kingdom uncontaminated fruits, vegetables, meats, meat products and milk products purchased in these countries.

Tourist
visa is required for a short travel to the United Kingdom. Materials required
are as follows:
1.
Passport: The passport should be valid for six months from the date of your
leaving the UK and have at least two consecutive blank pages for visa (one page
and its opposite side). Old passport, if any, should be provided.
2.
Four recent passport photos (taken in the past 6 months), colored, against
white background, measuring 3.5*4.5 cm
3.
Personal materials:
a.
Photocopy of ID card;
b.
Photocopy of each page of the Hukou Booklet of the family;
c.
Photocopy of the marriage certificate (if the applicant is married).
4.
The original copy of the Letter of Employment in English issued by the
applicants employer: The Letter must carry the letterhead which is the name
of the employer, seal of the employer, signature of the person in charge, and
the address and telephone number of the employer. The letter should include the
applicants name, passport number, year of employment begun, monthly salary,
length of vacation, number of days of stay and source of funds for the travel.
The letter should also include the guarantee that the applicant will comply
with local laws and return to China on time.
5.
Qualifications of the Chinese employer:
a.
Photocopy of the Business License and organization code certificate stamped
with the employers seal;
b.
Business card: The address, telephone number and name of the applicant provided
must be correct and can be used to contact the applicant.
6.
Certificates of personal assets:
a.
Record of transactions of the past 3-6 months of personal bank deposits (The document
must show the name and card number of the applicant) or the photocopy of
passbook or payroll;
b.
Bank deposits of RMB 100,000 (including the record of transactions of the past
six months and certificate of bank deposits);
c.
Provision of car, real estate and stocks is highly desirable.
7.
Travel plan
a.
A detailed travel plan which includes details of the trip (itinerary);
b.
Flight bookings and hotel bookings (accommodation);

The British people tend to dress up in formal social occasions. In the workplace, they also tend to be dressed formally - men usually wear suits, while ladies, uniforms.
