2. Basic Information

Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) is also called Capital Airport or Beijing Airport. BCIA is not only the primary window to the outside world for China’s capital, Beijing, but also the most important air transportation hub for China’s civil aviation sector. BCIA is the center of China’s civil aviation network, and the main hub for Air China.



3. Terminal Information

Beijing Capital International Airport consists of three terminal buildings, (T1, T2 and T3), two 4E-class runways, one 4F-class runway, and advanced passenger and cargo facilities. Shuttle bus service connects the three terminal buildings, providing easy access for passengers transiting through Beijing on flights served by different terminals. Air China’s airport operations are located in Terminal T2、T3.



4. Location of Check-in Counters

Air China check-in counters are located in the F, H, and J areas on the fourth floor in Terminal T3C and the G and H areas on the second floor in Terminal T2.

Domestic departure process at T3

(Domestic departure process at T3-C for Beijing (PEK)-Shanghai Air Express, Beijing (PEK)-Hangzhou Air Express and Air China VIP check-in counters) Enter the check-in hall on the fourth floor in T3-C → Check in at the A and B areas (check-in counters for Beijing (PEK)-Shanghai Air Express and Beijing (PEK)-Hangzhou Air Express) → Security checks → Go down to the third floor of T3-C → Wait in the domestic waiting area → Board the plane

(Domestic departure process at T3-C for other passengers) Enter the check-in hall on the fourth floor in T3-C → Check in at the F, H, J and K counters → Go to the concourse for domestic and international passengers → Go down to the third floor → Security checks → Wait in the domestic waiting area → Board the plane

Enter the domestic arrivals hall on the second floor of T3C → Go through the transfer procedure at domestic to international transfer counters → Go down to the transfer hall on the first floor → Boarding pass inspection → Go up to the shuttle train station on the second floor → Take the shuttle train → Arrive at the second floor of T3-E → Go through the combined inspection procedure (quarantine inspection, border inspection, security checks, customs inspection) → Wait in the international waiting area → Board the plane

International departure process at T3

Transfer processes

International to domestic (T3-E to T3-C) transfer process

Enter the international arrivals hall on the third floor of T3-E → Go through the entry procedure at the combined inspection area (quarantine inspection, border inspection) → Go down to the shuttle train station on the second floor of T3-E → Take the shuttle train → Arrive at the shuttle train station on the second floor of T3-C → International baggage claim hall → Quarantine inspection → Customs inspection → Enter the international to domestic transfer hall → Go through the transfer procedure to domestic flights (baggage check-in) → Go up to the third floor of T3-C → Domestic security checks → Wait in the domestic waiting area → Board the plane

International to international (T3-E to T3-E) transfer process

Enter the international arrivals hall on the third floor of T3-E → Go through the transfer procedure at the transfer counters → Border inspection → Go down to the international departure hall on the second floor of T3-E → Security checks → Customs inspection → Wait in the international waiting area → Board the plane

Domestic to domestic (T2 to T2) transfer process for passengers without checked baggage

Passengers from nearby terminal stands disembark → Go through the transfer procedure at the domestic transfer counters on the third floor → Wait in the domestic waiting area on the second floor → Board the plane at the boarding gate.

Domestic to domestic (T2 to T2) transfer process for passengers with checked baggage

Passengers from nearby terminal stands disembark (passengers from remote stands disembark and take the shuttle bus → Airport entrance for domestic remote stands on the first floor of T2) → Claim baggage in the domestic baggage claim hall on the first floor → Go to the domestic arrivals hall on the first floor → Check in at the domestic check-in counters on the second floor of T2 → Go through the domestic security checks on the second floor of T2 → Wait in the domestic waiting area → Board the plane at the boarding gate.

Terminal 2 domestic to Terminal 2 international transfer process

Passengers arrive at the 1F Domestic Baggage-Claim Hall, Terminal 2 (non-through passengers are required to collect baggage at the designated baggage carousel and oversized baggage at the domestic oversized baggage conveyor) -> 1F Arrivals Hall -> 2F International Departures Hall -> Complete customs checks -> Complete transit check-in at the International Check-in Hall (non-through passengers are required to complete baggage check-in procedures again; oversized baggage is transferred from the international oversized baggage check-in counter) -> Exit quarantine checks -> Border control -> Body and carry-on baggage security checks -> Wait in the international departure waiting area -> Boarding

Domestic to domestic (T2 to T3) transfer process

Arrive at T2 → Claim baggage in the domestic baggage claim hall on the first floor → Go to the domestic arrivals hall on the first floor → Take the T2-T3 shuttle bus outside Gate 7 on the first floor of T2 → Arrive at the shuttle bus station on the fourth floor of T3C → Check in and re-check baggage in the departure hall on the fourth floor of T3C → Go through the domestic security checks in T3C → Wait in the domestic waiting area in T3C → Board the plane at the boarding gate

Domestic to domestic (T3 to T2) transfer process

Arrive at T3 → Claim baggage in the domestic baggage claim hall on the second floor of T3C (If you have checked in for the connecting flights and checked your baggage at the origin airport, you do not need to claim your baggage. If you have not checked in for the connecting flights at the origin airport, you will need to claim your baggage.) → Go to the domestic arrivals hall on the second floor → Take the T3-T2 shuttle bus outside Gate 5 on the first floor of T3 → Arrive at the shuttle bus station on the second floor of T2 → Go to the departure hall on the second floor of T2 (If you have not checked in for the connecting flights at the origin airport, you will need to check in and re-check baggage at the domestic check-in counters in T2.) → Go through the domestic security checks in T2 → Wait in the domestic waiting area in T2 → Board the plane at the boarding gate

Domestic to international (T2 to T3) transfer process for international direct flights

Arrive at T2 → Claim baggage in the domestic baggage claim hall on the first floor → Go to the domestic arrivals hall on the first floor → Take the T2-T3 shuttle bus outside Gate 7 on the first floor of T2 → Arrive at the shuttle bus station on the fourth floor of T3C → Check in and re-check baggage at the international check-in counters in the departure hall on the fourth floor of T3C → Go to the concourse for domestic and international passengers in T3C → Take the APM at the APM station on the second floor of T3C → Arrive at the APM station on the second floor of T3E → Go through the international combined inspection procedure (quarantine inspection, border inspection, security checks, customs inspection) → Wait in the international waiting area → Board the plane at the boarding gate. Domestic to international (T2 to T3-C) transfer for international flights with a domestic segment departing from Beijing (PEK)

Arrive at T2 → Claim baggage in the domestic baggage claim hall on the first floor → Go to the domestic arrivals hall on the first floor → Take the T2-T3 shuttle bus outside Gate 7 on the first floor of T2 → Arrive at the shuttle bus station on the fourth floor of T3C → Check in and re-check baggage at the international check-in counters in the departure hall on the fourth floor of T3C → Customs declaration → Go to the concourse for domestic and international passengers in T3C → Go through the domestic security checks on the third floor of T3C → Go through customs inspection and wait in the waiting area at boarding gates C55-56 in the east area on the second floor of T3C → Take the shuttle bus at boarding gates C55-56 on the first floor to board the plane.

Terminal 3 domestic to Terminal 2 international transfer process

Passengers arrive at Terminal 3 -> 2F Domestic Baggage-Claim Hall, Terminal 3-C (baggage claim is not required if through check-in procedures have been completed at the departure airport; baggage claim is required if through check-in procedures have not been completed in the departure airport) -> 2F Domestic Arrivals Hall -> Take the inter-terminal shuttle bus from Gate 5 at 1F, Terminal 3-C -> 2F Departures Hall, Terminal 2 (proceed with transit check-in and baggage check-in procedures in the international check-in area if through check-in procedures have not already been completed) -> Terminal 2 international departure process



6. VIP Lounge Information

The Air China VIP lounges are located near boarding gate C33 on the third floor of T3C, near boarding gates E20 and E19 on the second floor of T3-E, and opposite boarding gate 32 on the second floor of T2.



7. VIP Check-in Area

In order to improve the service quality and check-in experience for high-end passengers, we have set up a dedicated Air China VIP check-in area in Terminals 2 and 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport, providing exclusive VIP check-in services for high-end passengers.

In Terminal 3, “PhoenixMiles” Platinum Card members taking Air China-operated flights departing from Beijing (PEK), first class/business class passengers on Air China "Beijing (PEK)–Shanghai Air Express/Beijing (PEK)–Hangzhou Air Express" flights, and first class/business class passengers taking Air China-operated flights departing from Beijing (PEK) to international destinations, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan can check in at the Air China VIP check-in area.

In Terminal 2, “PhoenixMiles” Platinum Card members, Gold Card members, Silver Card members, Star Alliance Gold Card passengers and first class/business class passengers taking Air China-operated flights departing from Beijing (PEK) can check in at the VIP check-in area in Terminal 2.

The Air China VIP check-in area in Terminal 3 is located in area A on the fourth floor of T3-C. You can enter through Gate 2 on the departure floor of Terminal 3. 8. Airport Transportation

The airport is approximately 29.5 kilometers or 18.3 miles from downtown Beijing.

Airport Express

Launched in 2008, a rail line links Beijing Dongzhimen Gate and Beijing Capital International Airport. There are four stations: Dongzhimen (where you can transfer to Beijing Subway Line No.2 and No.13), Sanyuanqiao (where you can transfer to Beijing Subway Line No.10), Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. The train runs every 10 minutes and the price for a one-way ticket is RMB 25 per person.

Taxi

Taxi stands are located at the arrivals zone of every terminal building. During the daytime, Beijing taxis charge a flag-down fare of CNY 13, and CNY 2.3 for each additional kilometer traveled. From 23:00 (inclusive) to 05:00 (not inclusive) the next day, a 20% surcharge applies to the fare per kilometer. Fuel surcharges do not apply. The ride to downtown takes around 50 minutes and the fare is around CNY 100. Location of taxi stands: Terminal 1: the lane outside Gate 1, 1st floor; Terminal 2: middle lane outside Gates 5–9, 1st floor; Terminal 3: refer to signs within the terminal building.

Airport Shuttle Bus

Passengers to the downtown area can conveniently take the 16 airport shuttle bus routes to travel between Beijing Capital International Airport and Fangzhuang, Xidan, Beijing Railway Station, Gongzhufen, Zhongguancun, Shangdi Olympic Village, Beijing West Railway Station, Huilongguan, Tongzhou, Beijing South Railway Station, Yizhuang, Sihui, Wangfujing Jinbao Street, Wangjing, the China Millennium Monument and Shijingshan. Fare: Step fare applies depending on the station setup. There are five fare steps at CNY 15, 18, 21, 24 and 30. Please refer to the instructions of each airport shuttle bus ticketing booth for detailed fares on each route.

Airport Bus:

Airport buses mainly serve passengers between Shunyi District and Beijing Capital International Airport. At present, airport buses run from Terminal 2 of Beijing Capital International Airport to Xingang Zhuangyuan, Shunyi Jinhan Lvgang, Shunyi Kuliushu roundabout, and Shunyi Zhaoquanying.
