Dalian, China

It's a jewel inlaid on China's far northeast coast. The second largest city of Liaoning province adjoins the Yellow Sea to the east and the Bohai Sea to the northwest and contains about 260 islets.

The people of Dalian take a lot of pride in the fact that their city is nothing short of immaculate. Public squares sprinkled around, fine examples of Russian architecture exuding exotic charms, nice beaches glinting under the warm sun, seafood well cooked following the local recipes…worthwhile things to see and do here make visitors want to come back.

See and Do

  • Binhai Road

Drive on the seafront road in spring, and there are enough eye candies along the way. On one side are coniferous and broad-leaved forests and red azaleas in full bloom sweeping across hillsides, while on the other, jagged rocks standing sentinel to the vast sea.

  • Jinshitan

Pebbles sport colors of pink and yellow, conjuring up the image of flowers. They were formed by algae over the past 700 million years.

  • Xinghai Square

Taking a cue from the Circular Mound Altar of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, the largest urban square in Asia has a center floored with 999 red marble tiles. An avenue from the square leads to the vast sea just 500 meters away.

  • Sea-Crossing Bridge

Measuring 6 kilometers in length, northeast China’s longest sea-crossing bridge has become Dalian’s landmark. Its biggest span is 460 meters.
